Male Crossdressers: A Typical Timeline and the Role of CoachingAs there are many different reasons for crossdressing and many different desired outcomes, there are also many different paths that crossdressers take during the life of their crossdressing. However there is a typical path that appears more commonly than others.A Typical TimelineEarly life experiences: Dressing up in play and influential positive female influences for example.Shame/guilt: Discovering that you may be ridiculed by peers, or punished by superiors for openly dressing as a girl. This shifts the activity into secrecy. A long period of secret or “closeted” crossdressing: This often exists throughout adult life and adult relationships, including marriage. Often intimate partners are now aware. Desire to enhance the crossdressing experience: This is to compensate for desensitisation from regular crossdressing. It can take the form of more complete cross-dressing with makeup, wig, etc. and female role-play with others which may include sex. This can play out in fantasy or for the more confident, real life experience. Desire for acceptance: Wanting to connect with others; Creating Virtual (online) personas; Adopting a female name; Disclosing ones crossdressing to other people in ones life; Crossdressing more in groups or in public if that they feel accepted. Regret: As one discovers that the general acceptance of society was better than they thought, they regret not acting sooner while they were younger and potentially could enjoy the activity more fully. The Role of CoachingThere are often times when crossdressers are uncomfortable with their desires or sexuality and have difficulty resolving these issues and moving forward. This is often because of a lack of understanding of their sexuality, how it fits into those around them and fear of the consequences of being exposed or living more openly. An informed guide or “coach” may be of value at these times to assist and facilitate progression in: -Understanding ones own sexuality and how it developed. -Planning the best course of action and speed to attain a rewarding future. -Reducing the risks to other important areas of life. -Overcoming obstacles on the way to a rewarding and regret-free future. |
